AGR Removals

Firstly, one star is one too many but it's the least I can give!

We booked this company to shift a large van's worth of belongings from Worthy Down near Winchester, Hampshire, to Withernsea in East Yorkshire on Monday 21st December 2009 as I was due to leave my Army married quarter on finishing my 27 years' service. A £50 deposit was taken and we were advised that we would be called over the weekend prior to finalise an arrival time.

When no call was received, our efforts to contact the company on both landline and mobile went unanswered and we were forced to make our own arrangements at no notice whatsoever as my wife insisted - foolishly as it turns out - on giving Gary and co-driver the benefit of the doubt and suggested they may be having some pre-Christmas down time with their own families before making the trip to us and so waited until midday on 21st December 2009 before conceding that his word was not his bond.

This resulted in me having to find my own self-drive hire van which fortunately was available from Southampton, albeit smaller than the one I needed, and I was able to rent this for a 48 hour period to make the trips myself as well as having to load and unload the goods myself. The smaller van meant that I needed to do two return runs - a total of just in excess of 1700 miles in just under two days which, if you remember that winter, was in snow, ice and fog, and largely through the night. Of course on top of that, I first had to drive my own car from Worthy Down to Southampton to collect the van and then drive myself home from Southampton to Withernsea after I had returned the van. My ordeal ended at mid afternoon on 23rd December and if you think this sounds like sour grapes, your dead right it is - 16 years, 4 months and two days later, I'm still waiting for an apology and my £50 deposit so, Gary of AGR Removals, if you read this and you have a tiniest shred of compassion or remorse about you, check your records and get in touch - the email address we used to paypal that deposit is still valid and I look forward to getting my money back. As a gesture of goodwill, if you see it in yourself to honour this long outstanding debt, I'll overlook any interest that £50 would have earned and in return, you can be extremely grateful I won't be taking this any further.

Excellent service, we found AGR Removals to be very accommodating at such short notice of moving home. The guys were friendly, professional, and reliable and took time and care with our belongings. In addition they also provided a storage service at no extra cost for a sofa that we had purchased,
We would not hesitate to recommend AGR Removals to anyone and would certainly use this company again should the situation arise.
AGR Removals really took the stress out of moving and were competitively priced compared to other renowned companies around.

Service cost: £300

Ruined a £1900 tv and won’t sort it. Gary told me his insurance wouldn’t cover it as it wasn’t boxed but he never said anything in advance. I bought bubble wrap specifically for the tv’s and he told me I didn’t need it as he had blankets. When the tv was turned on after the move there were lines down the screen then it went blank, the screen was also covered in finger prints so where were the blankets?

Told me to claim through my house insurance and he would pay the excess ?

I have tried to offer a resolution but Gary has ignored me.

I used this company as it was local to me and I like to shop local.

My advice is if you’ve got expensive items to move DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.
